During the months of July and August, we will be paying homage to one of the OG wine bars in New York City, Terroir, and their fearless leader Paul Grieco. Several years ago Paul started a movement among wine bars and restaurants not just in NYC but across the country called "Summer of Riesling." Buyers everywhere would stock up on their favorite Rieslings and pour them by the glass, exhibiting the beauty, power and most importantly the versatility that Riesling brings to the table. Ending the summer is grand fashion, as one would expect, we have opted to revisit the sunny hills of Alsace, specifically Grand Cru hills, and pour one more gem. Tucked up in an adorable Alsatian village at the base of the very famous Trois Chateaux, sits the winery of Kuentz-Bas. Here Riesling takes on a texture that only the best vineyards and a extra year of aging can help to produce. Creamy, vibrant and knee-buckling, this Pfersigberg Grand Cru Riesling is a rarity that should not be missed, at an enticing $15/glass.
