The German language has never rolled off my tongue quite like italian or Spanish, but there is just something about the word Spätburgunder. Most would recognize it by its alternative pronunciation, Pinot Noir. Unlike Burgundy or the warm valleys of Sonoma, this version of Pinot Noir is much gentler. It definitely gets you thinking about what the Germans have been up to all these years, but it also will get you thinking about spring.
